For my granola gorls, this collage shows a climber scaling a slot canyon with a rattlesnake in the foreground. I chose a climber to reflect the facets of the hermits journey: climbing is a solitary act that outwardly takes great effort. But unseen is the inward mental game that requires intuition and feeling around. In this setting, the climber’s goal is to head toward the light -- just like the Waite-Smith depiction.  I ham-fisted the snake to represent the never ending quest for knowledge.
